Essays on Social Issues: Is Writing an Essay on Social Issues a Good Idea?

Essays on Social Issues: Is Writing an Essay on Social Issues a Good Idea?Writing essays on social issues is a good way to be a voice for your beliefs and values. The thought of just writing something that other people will read and accept makes me feel uneasy. I am sure that if you went out into the world and said to a group of people, 'I am going to write an essay on social issues,' you would get a round of applause and maybe even a smile. Still, the issue here is, is this a value added activity?I know that a person who writes about something, like social issues, is going to get some snickers or laughter, but really, is it any different than writing about anything else? Does it make the person write with a different spirit? Should the person be concerned about the tone and style of their writing? What I am getting at is, should the person who writes on the topics, be worried about how they say it? If they do, then I think that they are creating a problem and must not be concerned ab out being creative and unique when they write. I think this is the standard in the essay world. When we write about any topic, from poetry to books and letters, we learn our tone. We begin to 'say' what we want and not how we really feel. Sometimes we change the tones as we learn to 'say' what we want. Now, I don't think that is a bad thing, but we must be careful to speak our hearts out loud and not be afraid to show it.You see, there is another side to this word problem and that is, a person's thoughts, but some of those thoughts will not be accepted. If we begin to show them who we really are, or who we really are coming from, we could lose our jobs, get fired, or even ostracized by those around us. That is not good, because we are getting more angry, scared, or confused. Yet, it is always OK to show our thoughts, but I have found that when we do not say it, it is OK for people to say it.If you are going to be a social activist for a cause, I think you need to be honest and open a nd not afraid to speak up and speak well. Yes, we have to protect ourselves, our families, and our loved ones by being vocal about our thoughts and feelings.Writing essays on social issues is no different than writing other essays. It is all about the writing, the thoughts, and the creativity. The only difference is that some of the essay topics are a little more political and controversial. If you truly want to write a good essay on social issues, you should be an essayist first, then social worker, then a citizen, then a writer. Remember, the best way to write an essay on social issues is to start with a good topic and then find ways to express that topic.
